Frequently asked questions
What is a Youth Theater?
The Park Avenue Youth Theater is a program that provides participants the opportunity to create original theatre in collaboration with their peers. This community of young artist is guided by a team of professional directors, designers and facilitators to create a play that reflect their opinions and perspectives on their world.
How are they going to write and memorize dialogue for an entire play?
While we do rely heavily on improvisation through the rehearsal process, the final product is completely memorized by the cast. Parents are often surprised to hear that our participants never see a script. Because the participants create the dialog themselves, the process of memorization happens naturally.
My child is very shy. Is this the program for them?
Yes! The PAYT staff takes great care to craft each session to build the confidence of the participant. If your child is hesitant, we encourage them try a session.
Is the theatre program affiliated with the church? Is it religious?
Will children with physical or learning disabilities be welcome in the program?
The Park Avenue Youth Theater is an inclusive program. We welcome any participant who wants to learn about theater.
